This course is suitable for anyone whose job role involves operating or managing the use of work equipment as it’s essential that you’re familiar with the potential hazards and how to manage them.
Course Aims & Objectives
The course looks at how to carry out a risk assessment for work equipment and which control measures should be implemented in accordance with the hierarchy of control, to reduce the risks posed by installation, operation, and maintenance of work equipment. It provides practical health and safety information that you can apply to your own use of work equipment.
Course Outline
- Understand the legal responsibilities defined under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) 1998.
- Understand the other main laws that apply to the safe use of work equipment.
- Have an awareness of how risk assessments are carried out for the safe use of work equipment.
- Have knowledge of the control measures needed to eliminate or manage the hazards created by the use of work equipment and ensure health and safety.
- Understand the importance of careful equipment selection, safe working practices, equipment maintenance, inspection and testing, and emergency procedures.
Certification
On completion of the course and successfully passing the required testing, the delegates are awarded a certificate that complies with the recommendations of the Health and Safety commission approved code of practice. It is recommended that this course is refreshed every 3 years.
